Billable Usage

This page describes how platform usage is tracked and converted into billable usage.

Billable usage is applied at the account level so that discounts such as Compute Units volume tiers benefit your entire organization. The more you use the platform, the less expensive usage becomes across all projects. Project cost breakdown reports, calculated based on project-specific usage against account-level charges, are also available in the LifeOmic Platform UI.

Compute Units

Compute Units are an aggregation of many types of usage across the platform. Examples include complex API queries, pipeline task executions, or machine learning model predictions. All of these actions generate Compute Units, depending on the complexity of the operation. Several APIs, such as those related to account or user management, do not contribute to billable Compute Units. The following APIs are the primary contributors to your total Compute Units each month:

Note: Each API documents how Compute Units are calculated.

Data Transfer

There is no charge for ingesting data into the LifeOmic Platform. Only the following APIs charge for transferring data out.

Note: You are charged for the total number of GB transferred out each month.

Storage

For both File Storage and Database Storage charges, you pay for the average number of GB stored for each billing cycle. For example, if you store 100 GB for the first half of the billing cycle and 200 GB for the second half, you are only charged for 150 AVG GB.

Examples of File Storage are files uploaded via the Files API, as well as those generated by GA4GH for indexing. Examples of Database Storage are FHIR objects uploaded, or the metadata pulled into Insights for Analytics API queries.
